Our Values

One

Effective philanthropy need not be an exclusive privilege of the very wealthy.

Two

Nurturing our community of members is at the core of everything we do.

Members of the Fund will be celebrated for their passion, their curiosity, and their knowledge, not just their financial contribution.

Three

Effective funding is based on trust. We aim to move funding quickly, with no strings attached.

We are happy for our funding to go to areas that are traditionally avoided in some funding relationships: travel, staffing, research, pilot projects, and leadership training, because we believe that it is investment in these areas that turns aspiration into actionable change.

Four

Impact takes time. We embrace work that is experimental and innovative and we’re not afraid to take risks. We understand that projects don’t always go to plan.

Five

Collaboration is key. We encourage our grantees to share results, work across sectors, and challenge those barriers that prevent cooperation.

Six

For our grant-making to be effective, it must be responsive to the audiences we serve. We listen to young people who tell us what, where, and who to fund.

Seven

We recognise that questions about the definition of 'woman' are the subject of live public debate. The trustees have considered this carefully and taken a deliberate decision to define membership by self-identified gender identity. We believe that an inclusive understanding of womanhood best reflects our values as a community, and that the shared experience of moving through the world as a woman — in all its diversity — is what unites our members and underpins our mission.
