What We Fund

Women’s Fund for Nature exists because youth-led climate action is not lacking ideas or leadership — it is lacking equitable, early-stage funding and meaningful access to power. We are here to help change that.

For our grant-making to be effective, it must be responsive to the audiences we serve. We listen to young people who tell us where the funding gaps are and what the areas and issues are that need our support. This means that, periodically, our funding priorities may change to reflect the advice we receive from our Youth Advisory Board. These priorities will be announced at the start of every grant cycle.

We ask that you base your decision to apply on your compatibility with the stated priority of the grant cycle. We will ensure that these priorities are clear and concise to help you determine whether or not you are a “fit”.

Our Eligibility Criteria

  • You must be based in the UK, but your work does not necessarily need to focus exclusively on the UK. (For example, an UK-based organisation that is developing climate-focused curricula might have audiences outside the UK).

  • Your director(s) and the majority of your staff must be made up of people less than 30 years of age.

  • You must have a bank account or have a registered third party who can receive grants on your behalf

  • We won’t fund endowments, capital campaigns, late-stage commercial ventures seeking scale-up capital, and/or debt or loan reductions.

  • Neither do we fund projects or organisations that focus on awareness-raising without a clear pathway to change.

  • We do not fund organisations, informal groups, or individuals that act illegally or put the safety of themselves or others at risk.
